Guides Comparisons Record TIME
Record TIME vs the SitesAI App for a civil crew
Two Australian apps for dockets, timesheets and plant. One sells modules you add up, one sells licences. A dated, sourced comparison for small crews.

Record TIME and the SitesAI App are both Australian, both aimed at businesses whose work is measured and signed for, and both replace the same docket book. They divide the problem very differently, and the pricing tells you how.
Every Record TIME figure below is from their own pricing page on the date shown.

Where Record TIME wins
It invoices, and it talks to Xero. This is the big one and we will not dress it up. Their Invoicing module turns the docket into an invoice with a Xero integration. The SitesAI App has no invoicing, no payments and no accounting ledger of any kind. If the appeal of going digital is "docket in, invoice out, without retyping", Record TIME does that today and we do not.
Buy only what you need. Modular pricing genuinely suits a business with one narrow problem. If all you want is digital dockets for a two-person operation, A$25 a month for Docketing is a clean answer, and nothing else is switched on to confuse anyone.
Plant scheduling is a named feature. They schedule machines as well as people. We offer shifts to people, and plant sits in the asset register alongside.
Where the SitesAI App wins
Price, once you need more than one thing. Their modules are priced separately. A business wanting dockets, scheduling, plant and geofenced sites is at A$25 + $25 + $25 + $100 = A$175 a month in base fees alone, before per-seat costs and before invoicing. The SitesAI App is free up to ten licences with every feature switched on, and US$5 per licence after that. For a crew of six with two sites, that is the difference between a real monthly bill and none.
A licence can be a site, not just a person. A quiet but useful difference. Seat-based pricing punishes you for giving a part-timer access. Here a licence covers a person or a site — or a client with a portal login — and you spend the pool however your business is actually shaped.
Offline is designed in, not hoped for. Taps are queued on the device and replayed, and the server referees every event — the phone never writes the record. Retransmits cannot double-count, and a queued tap cannot claim a time that a live tap would have been refused. Details in Clock-in that works where there is no signal.
The commercial chain past the docket. Leads, quotes accepted by a typed name on a link, the won lead becoming the job, scope of work, variations approved by the client, and progress claims that freeze what they reported. Dockets are evidence inside that chain rather than the end of it. See Quote, scope, variation, claim.
Compliance as a register, not a folder. Documents belong to their holder and are shared with your company, requirements are set per site, and one report answers who is not compliant on what. See Site compliance: a document wallet.
An AI that can run the account. 142 tools plus a REST API, flat $38 a month for the whole company. Nothing comparable is published on their side.
What does the SitesAI App not do?
- No invoicing, no payments, no accounting ledger, no Xero or MYOB integration.
- No dispatch board for crews and plant.
- No dedicated plant-scheduling view; machines live in the asset register.
Should you pick Record TIME or the SitesAI App?
Pick Record TIME if the job is "docket to invoice with Xero", if you want one narrow module rather than a platform, or if plant scheduling is the daily headache.
Pick the SitesAI App if you want the whole job in one place from the lead to the claim, if a free tier that covers a real crew matters more than an invoicing module, or if you want an AI assistant over the business.

Questions people ask
How much is Record TIME?
It is modular, in Australian dollars per month: Docketing $25 plus $10 per extra seat, Scheduling $25 plus $8, Invoicing $10 plus $5, Plant Management $25 plus $10, and Job Site Manager $100 plus $100 per extra site. There is a 30-day free trial. Check their page for current figures.
Which one invoices my customers?
Record TIME does, with a Xero integration. The SitesAI App does not invoice at all — it produces signed dockets and progress claim reports, and the figures go to your accounting system.
Can I move my dockets from one to the other?
There is no import path between them. What moves is your data in whatever export each provides; start a new period rather than trying to migrate history mid-job.
