Guides Comparisons Assignar
Assignar vs the SitesAI App for a small civil crew
A dated comparison for crews under about twenty people — dispatch-first operations software with quote-only pricing, against a free-to-ten-licence site app.

Assignar is the name that comes up first when an Australian civil contractor asks what to run the crew on, and for good reason. This page is for the other end of the market: businesses with a handful of people and plant, deciding whether they need it yet.
Figures below come from Assignar's own site and its Capterra Australia listing on the date shown.
SitesAI App and Assignar, side by side

Where Assignar wins
Dispatch. This is their core and it is genuinely better than ours. Assignar schedules crews and equipment by dragging qualified, available resources into a calendar. If your day is a puzzle of which operator is ticketed for which machine on which site, that is exactly the problem they solve. We offer shifts and track who accepted, who was reassigned and who did not turn up — useful, but not the same tool.
Accounting and ERP integrations. Assignar syncs with accounting and ERP systems so hours become payroll and costs without retyping. We have no accounting integration at all, and no invoicing — that is a real gap, not a positioning statement.
Scale and track record. 800+ customers across several continents, years of field-app polish, and a support organisation. If you are heading past thirty people with multiple concurrent civil contracts, that maturity is worth paying for.
Where the SitesAI App wins
You can find out what it costs, and start for nothing. Assignar does not publish a price; Capterra lists no free version and no free trial. The SitesAI App is free up to ten licences — a licence being one active team member or one active site — and US$5 per licence per month after that. For a five-person crew with two live sites, that is nothing at all, with no call to book.
It covers the sales end too. Leads, quotes with a client-accept link, the won job, its scope of work, variations, and progress claim reports all live in the same place as the crew and the dockets. Assignar is an operations platform; winning the work is not its job. For a small business where the person quoting is also the person rostering, that seam matters.
Dockets and signatures built for plant hire. One docket per truck, a QR code the customer scans to sign on site, and a branded A4 PDF with the lines frozen at signature. Clock-in carries start and finish photos, geolocation, tag sign-in and a two-stage signature — worker, then supervisor.
Compliance you can answer with one screen. Document types with expiry, requirements set per site, and a report that says who is not compliant on what. Inductions are signed on the phone and produce a certificate.
An AI that can actually run it. A 142-tool connector plus a REST API means an assistant can read your jobs, raise tasks, chase follow-ups and answer questions about the business. As far as we can tell, nobody else in this market exposes the whole app to an AI like that. It is the reason some people pick us.
What does the SitesAI App not do?
Worth being blunt, because finding out later is expensive:
- No invoicing, no payments, no accounting ledger, no Xero or MYOB integration. Progress claims are reports, not invoices.
- No true dispatch board for crews and plant.
- No years of field-app polish. Ours is on the App Store and Google Play and it works, but Assignar has been shipping a field app to hundreds of contractors for longer than we have.
Should you pick Assignar or the SitesAI App?
Pick Assignar if scheduling crews and plant is the hard part of your week, if you need hours flowing into payroll and accounting automatically, or if you are big enough that a quote-based platform is normal.
Pick the SitesAI App if you are a small crew who wants the quoting, the site paperwork and the timesheets in one free-to-start place, and you would rather connect an AI assistant than a dispatch board.

Questions people ask
How much does Assignar cost?
Assignar does not publish a price. Capterra Australia lists it as "contact Assignar for pricing details", with no free version and no free trial listed. You will need to book a call to find out, which is normal at that end of the market.
Does the SitesAI App do dispatch like Assignar?
Not in the same way. We offer shifts to people and track accept, reject, reassign and no-shows. Assignar's drag-and-drop dispatch of crews and plant against qualifications and availability is a deeper tool, and it is what they are known for.
Can the SitesAI App invoice my clients?
No. It has no invoicing, no payments and no accounting ledger, by design. It produces progress claim reports and dockets you can send to whatever you invoice from.
