Guides Comparisons SafetyCulture
SafetyCulture vs the SitesAI App for site compliance
Both are free for ten users and mean different things by compliance. Inspections at global scale against a register of tickets, sites and expiry dates.

SafetyCulture is the biggest name here by a wide margin — an Australian company used across every industry on earth. Comparing a small civil app to it looks presumptuous, and on most axes it is. But the two products are free for the same number of users and both claim the word "compliance", so the comparison gets made whether we like it or not. Here it is, honestly.
Figures below come from SafetyCulture's own pricing and help pages on the date shown.
SitesAI App and SafetyCulture, side by side
| Feature | SitesAI App | SafetyCulture |
|---|---|---|

| Paid price | US$5 per licence per month once past 10, counting all of them | US$24 per seat per month on Premium, with a 30-day trial |
| What compliance means | A register: who holds which document, which site requires it, what expires when | Inspections: templates completed on a phone, with actions raised from findings |
| Templates | A shared SOP library you build; no public gallery | An enormous public template library plus an AI form builder |
| Documents | Wallet owned by the holder, shared with your company; approved versions locked | Stored against inspections and actions |
| Expiry tracking | Documents expiring within 30 days surface on the dashboard and the compliance report | Not its core model |
| Per-site requirements | Set per site, scoped to the company or to each member | Templates are assigned to teams and sites |
| Inductions | Content plus questions, drawn signature, flips site status automatically | Training sits in a separate product |
| The rest of the job | Leads, quotes, scope, variations, claims, dockets, timesheets, plant, stock | Not its purpose |
| Timesheets | Clock-in with photos, geofence, tags, two signatures, queued offline | Not a core feature |

The word "compliance" means two different things
SafetyCulture: inspections. A template is completed on a phone, findings raise actions, actions get assigned and closed, and the results roll up across sites and teams. It is the best tool in the world for "did we check this, and what did we find".
The SitesAI App: a register. Who holds which ticket, which insurance, which SWMS. Which of those a given site requires. What expires when, and who is not compliant right now.
The distinction is the difference between two questions a head contractor asks. "Show me last week's prestarts" is an inspection question. "Is every one of your operators ticketed and inducted for Monday" is a register question. Most businesses get asked both, and most tools only answer one.
Where SafetyCulture wins
The template library. Enormous, public, free to draw on, plus an AI builder that turns a document into a form. If your problem is "we do not have written checks", you can be running professional ones this afternoon. We have nothing like it.
Inspections as a discipline. Scheduled, repeated, scored, with actions raised from findings and tracked to closure. Our prestarts raise a triage task on a defect, which is a much smaller version of the same idea.
Offline and mobile maturity. Years of field polish on an app used by millions.
It covers everything, not just construction. If you also run a workshop, a yard, vehicles and an office, one tool covers the lot.
Scale of trust. A head contractor has heard of it. That matters commercially and it would be silly to pretend otherwise.
Where the SitesAI App wins
A credentials register that actually expires things. Documents belong to their holder and are shared with your company. Approved versions are locked — a subcontractor cannot swap the certificate you approved; they renew it and your archive keeps what you approved. Requirements are set per site, scoped to the company or to each member. One report says who is short of what. Details in Site compliance: a document wallet.
A licence can be a site or a client. Both products are free to ten, but ours counts differently: a licence covers a person, an active site, or a client with a portal login. Past ten, we are US$5 a licence against US$24 a seat.
The rest of the job exists. Quotes, the won job, scope, variations, progress claims, dockets, shifts, timesheets, plant, stock, purchase orders. SafetyCulture does not attempt this and does not claim to.
Inductions that change site status. Complete one with a drawn signature and the worker's induction status flips on the site automatically, in both directions — whether they were assigned first or inducted first.
An AI over the whole business, 142 tools and a REST API, flat $38 a month for the company.
What does the SitesAI App not do?
- No public template library and no AI form builder.
- No scheduled, scored inspection programme across teams and sites.
- No invoicing, no payments, no accounting ledger.
- Not a general-purpose tool for industries outside construction and civil.
Should you pick SafetyCulture or the SitesAI App?
Pick SafetyCulture if your problem is safety checks and you want the best inspection tool there is, with a library to start from.
Pick the SitesAI App if your problem is running the job and proving your crew is current, and you want the quoting, dockets and claims in the same place.
Running both is completely reasonable and a lot of businesses will. They barely overlap once you look past the word.

Questions people ask
Is SafetyCulture free?
There is a free plan for teams of up to 10, and Premium is listed at US$24 per seat per month with a 30-day trial. Our free tier is also 10, but a licence can be a site or a client as well as a person.
Do I need both?
Quite possibly. They are strongest at different things — inspections and template-driven safety on one side, the job and its paperwork on the other. Running both is a legitimate answer.
Which one tells me whose ticket expires next month?
Ours. A document has an expiry, a site has requirements, and one report answers who is not compliant on what. SafetyCulture's model is built around completing inspections rather than holding a credentials register.
Run the job from one app — free up to 10 licences.
Leads, jobs, shifts, dockets, inductions and SOP flows for a small civil crew, on web, iOS and Android. What the SitesAI App does.
